t seems like scotty is trying to turn Tulane into the type of place we see in stories about distopian futures. (i.e. 1984, or as peaked the idea, V for Vendetta). He is tryingto blame a sect of the population for a potential downfall and exclude them. By doing so, he secures even more control. He is trying to control the media, by punishing the Hullabaloo, and publishing his own news (New Wave), which is staffed not by students, but by profesional writers he pays to publish the news he wants (If the university is in a financial crisis, how can he afford these peoiples?).
I'm sure a more creative person could see even more parallels, but alas, I'm sleep deprived and not at the top of my game.
I don't think Gibson hall blowing up would look as cool as blowing up parliment, but it would still be a kick. |
