Logo Needed
December 12th, 2005
We need your help. We are going to be putting up a new homepage soon. With that we would like to include a new logo. This logo would be something we can also use for the basis of future T-shirt, sticker, and poster designs. Here is your chance to help us create it. Please email ideas for the designs to Ideas@SaveTulaneEngineering.org. The designs are not allowed to have Tulane, Green Wave, or any symbols expressly used and trademarked by Tulane University. However, we encourage designs with www.SaveTulaneEngineering.org in them. If you are submitting an image please ensure that it is a .bmp, .gif, or .jpg format. Also please specify if it is a logo idea, t-shirt idea, or otherwise.
The petition has reached over 2000 signatures. We are taking measures to have any multiple signatures removed before sending a copy to the appropriate parties. Please continue to spread the word about the Engineering School, the petition, and this site. We will be sending another copy of this petition as the number of signatures continue to increase. Thank you again for your continued support.

Malcom, this is awesome. Thanks so much for you effort. Lets get some more coming so we can choose the best. Perhaps we can try collaborating between logo designers. We're a smart group. I can't wait to see what ya'll come up with. |

I got fianls this week so I can not think of a creative design at the moment. But if the design is anything like what Malcolm produced, I can easily come up with a little animation for the web page using it.
Malcolm, you said you had a vector graphic of your logo. What did you use to create it? If it was Adobe Illustrator, I could easily import that into Adobe After Effects to make a cool little animated gif. Either way, it should not be hard for me to come up with something nice.
Offering up my abilities... _________________ Jason Talley

www.makestickers.com offers a pretty easy way to make text bumper stickers.
If you click on Plain Bold Text Messages, then select the image two up from the bottom and all the way to the right (it has one line of black background with text and a larger bottom of white with text). You can then select the background as white for both, set the font as "default" and top writing as follows:
"Football Players Can't Rebuild Levees Alone..." (or catch phrase of your choice), default font, color Process Blue
"www.SAVE TULANE ENGINEERING.org" (spaces help readability), default font, color Dark Green.
I don't have the funds to order a thousand, but I could do about 50 or so and distribute. I'm sure many people feel same way, and it's easy to do from various locations. It's not fancy, but it gets the message on our cars and out to the public... The catch phrase can change to suit anyone's taste and leave the tagline as the bold message.
Keep up the good work!

That is an awesome Idea! I feel that for uniformity, we should start coming up with a standard catch phrase and design. Also, for legal reason we would have the leave the SaveTulaneEngineering.org as one thing...we were informed by our law consultants that we can't have Tulane by itself. Though I will double check the spacing idea...just to make sure. Thanks and lets start making ideas for stickers! _________________ - Justin Mikowski

In the event the spaces between words won't work, maybe spaces between each letter, so still all one word but more readable? Also, we could use lower case (although less visible sort of) and capitalize S T and E as in the other logo suggestions... The ease with which we could post instructions and catch phrase for uniformity would allow people to put in their own order or a benefactor to provide a 1000 in one fell swoop and still have them all the same.
I personally enjoy "Football Players Can't Rebuild Levees Alone..." but would be open to other suggestions like "Rebuilding Requires Re-Engineering" or "Engineering The Future" or "The Levees Won't Rebuild Themselves" or "Don't Let Katrina Win" or something like that...
I think a simple bumper sticker with high visibility of the website name would be better than cluttering with a design. Save logos and whatnot for T-shirts (which must be done!) and posters. |

Awesome...but you left out Computer Engineering....
Either way....anyone feel like posting posters at your host schools or around New Orleans please do so. If you email me pictures of either the posters or people posting them I will upload them. Thanks. _________________ - Justin Mikowski

About the bumper sticker idea (which I love), How about
Save New Orleans,
Save the Gulf Coast ...
www.SaveTulaneEngineering.org
Let's not forget that the Mississippi Gulf coast was flattened, horribly devastated, and many many Tulane Engineering Alumni are from that area as well (I'm a mississippi gal myself - just transplanted to AL) _________________ -- Beth (McArdle) Allen E'85 |
