Just another thought concerning money, Tulane receives allot of money from the State of Louisiana through legislative scholarships. We should contact our state representatives and senators and ask them to discontinue this state supported scholarships based on the reduced value Tulane returns to the state in the way of engineering talent. This case can easily be made Post-Katrina. New Orleans and the region will need more not less engineering talent to solve the present and future problems we face. These problems are mostly technical and no amount of lawyers and social workers can fix them.

That's not exactly the direction of the money. Tulane funds the scholarships and distributes them to legislators who then award them to Louisiana students in their districts. You can still argue the legitimacy of the deal, but it's money spent by Tulane on Louisiana students, not money being given to Tulane by legislators.

You could still argue that Tulane is not living up to the charter it formed with the state

No you can't argue on that point. The only point you can argue on is that TEF discontinued the education of youth during a period of time. This broke the agreement with the state, therefore reverting all the property back to the original University of Louisiana and making Tulane a public institution, losing it's property tax exemption status.

The only reason Tulane gives the scholarships to the state legislature is to ensure all of its property holdings remain tax exempt.
