Absolute TREASURE TROVE of data supporting engineering's contribution to the Tulane community.
Turns out Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest moneymakers for the school (especially when you adjust these figures on a per-professor basis).
Science and Engineering at Tulane Ranked:
* "This institution ranks #109 out of the 599 institutions surveyed with any R&D expenditures reported for FY 2002."
* "This institution ranks #106 out of the 1158 institutions that received Federal science and engineering (S&E) obligations for FY 2002."
* This institution ranks #52 out of the 577 institutions surveyed with any full-time graduate science, engineering, and health students reported for Fall 2002.
Total separately budgeted R&D expenditures in the sciences
and engineering, by field: selected years

<Hope that chart comes out on the cut and paste>
Hmm. Engineering takes more money to run (because of course the professors need lab space, hence Engineering Row). But, I find it hard to believe that engineering doesn't make up that difference in research dollars generated.
In fact, if you believe the numbers Tulane is throwing out, then I've got some beachfront property in Biloxi I'd like to sell you! _________________ Clay Kirby
