I want to guage student opinion on the recent 'Live Chat' by Dr. Cowen. Personally, I felt the responses were a little lacking. But, I am biased because I view this decision as a big step back. I hope that we can come together as a college and show Dr. Cowen ways to save engineering.

A transcript of the chat is going to be posted on Tulane's website by Monday. I'm sure following that we will have a post as well. (must likely a link too) I'm also going to refrain from commenting on the chat as I do not wish to jade anyone.

Someone asked about the numbers of who would be affected by this change, and I thought Cowen gave a seemingly inaccurate answer. He said only about 4 % of the Undergrads would be affected by this change... there is no way that can be true... aren't there more Freshman and Sophomore Engineers.... and I think this decision also really affects the "would-have-beens" in the future which can't be expressed in a number...

I agree, Cowen's 4% estimate seemed very lowballed. I'm going to refrain from commenting further because i came in 10 mins late.

Not only did he not respond to my question, but he also seemed to dance around and not give solid answers.

Is it really a "transcript" when parts are changed?

Fink,

I looked through the screen shots you were awesome enough to provide, while there were some small changes there were nothing major changed. Mostly I found that the answered were just edited for clarity and readability. I do kinda agree that perhaps it should have been left alone, however since nothing meaning wise was altered (that I could find) I decided not to make a big deal out of it. If I missed a change that does change the meaning of what was said or puts a new slant on the message or such please let me know. Thanks for your support!

Like Justin said, there wasn't anything much, but I'm bothered by the fact that they would change anything but blatant grammatical errors.

how do you post questions for the upcoming chat? I've clicked on the link in the upper left corner of the site but it doesn't seem to work.
