Here are some statistics that we have found. If a statistic is estimated (denoted ‘est’) it is estimated on the more conservative side of the truth. Please continue to send any statistics you have regarding Tulane Engineering. The more information we have the better.
Cost to support EECS Faculty Salaries: $8.5 Million per year (est)
Average Engineering SAT Score: >1325 (est)
Average SAT Score for Tulane University: 1278-1347 (depending on year)
Information received regarding President Cowen’s Promise and Distinction Campaign is as follows: I have received a wonderful graph depicting how Engineering compares to other colleges at Tulane. The breakdown is
School Goal % Complete
Health Sciences Center $156 milion 77
Medical School $111 million 70
Engineering $45 million 77
Public Health $35 million 92
Athletics $41 million 78
Freeman $41 million 63
LAS $27 million 37
Newcomb $14.5 million 60
Law $18.2 million 45
Tulane College $11.3 million 58
Primates $4 million 99
Etc….
In any case, the School of Engineering had the 3rd largest amount to raise and we were 4th with respect to the percentage complete. You can download the graph here. This is very good news for Tulane Engineering. We were doing our part to support the University in the future. It is disrespectful that we should be dismantled after all of our hard work. Please share this graphic as you see fit.
Also, please contact your local newspapers, and other news organizations. We are organizing a template letter to send to such organizations. But we need your help. If you would like to lead some kind of support group to contact a specific group of people (i.e. alumni, newspapers, lawmakers… etc), don’t hesitate to start one. Just let me know at wclarkso@tulane.edu so we don’t over focus our efforts on one group.
Keep up the hard work!
