Our Pledge
December 11th, 2005
We have started a forum to take pledges for donations. Please pledge any amount you can. 50 dollars may not sound like a lot, but multiply it by 1500 and you’ve got a decent sum. We don’t expect to raise 100 million dollars, but we do expect to show the administration we are willing to put our money where our mouth is. Our first donation was made by member of Tulane's Faculty who pledged $5000 a year for life if the EECS department continues at Tulane.
Both Will and I are Juniors at Tulane in the Engineering Department. With that in mind, we both pledge $500 a year while we are in college, and $1000 a year for life after we graduate if the EECS, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering departments continue at Tulane. These pledges are for the above amounts each, so $1000 a year and $2000 a year for life combined. Just to keep things in perspective, I receive a lot of need based financial aid at Tulane, so these are serious pledges, not just easy money.
PLEASE tell everyone about this pledge drive; friends, family, alumni, professors, businesses, everyone. We will need the continued help of the student body and the faculty to have this work. Engineering Alumni, I realize you may have just donated to the Rebuilding Tulane fund by the school, but please try to donate to save your school. Or if not please continue to donate time by staying informed and helping to inform others.
Also we have started to consult a lawyer about forming a Not-For-Profit to handle the donations and see that they go to the Save Tulane Engineering Fund (STE Fund). We are currently looking for a CPA to help manage the money and help setup accounts. If you know a CPA who would be willing to help please direct them to this site or e-mail us.
