* The last one isn't a news article. I just thought Lefton being described as "Lester the moLester" was hillarious.

I'm working on getting my hands on the numbers for the Class of 2010. I'm working on getting the exact numbers, but whoever said 'their applications would have been laughed at' most other years was more or less correct.

There is one positive that might yet redeem the entire class: the largest portion of locals in a hell of a long time. There might be more locals than any class in the past few decades. I've long thought that the majority of students who come from the Northeast come down to Tulane, enjoy their time, and then more or less forget about Tulane. It's the local alumni that stay active and support the school. In the history of Tulane, the "streetcar alumni" have always been the strongest supporters of the school. This freshman class could yet yield excellent long-term dividends for Tulane. It also isn't 'taking any local that walks through the door,' either. These local students are the Ben Franklin, Jesuit, and Newman grads. The best local students are coming to Tulane in droves.

In other news, we're #2!

I'm going to post this opinion piece because it has a very unique view on New Orleans. It's worth a read.
