I have been battling a nasty summer cold and missed it, but I had several friends who attended.

Take a look at the program:
http://tef.tulane.edu/program/

Cowen gave a speech. Most of it was all fluffy and positive about how the university is rebounding. He did say at one point, "I'd love to stay, but I have to be back on campus to do something." Not, 'some meeting' or 'some business,' but SOMETHING. Gee, I'm glad he's doing something! There were some harrumphes in the crowd.

There were a lot of interesting comments throughout the day between attendees. Not all of which were fit for public consumption.

The last speaker (the Ethics presentation by a UNO professor) had a nice little jab in it. She was talking about how there was a huge shortage of engineers in New Orleans. She said that, "we're churning out as many engineers as fast as we can over at UNO, but there's only so much we can do. It's a shame some idiot did away with Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical engineering." [I'm not 100% sure that was her exact phasing. This is through a couple of intermediaries. I'm sure I captured the spirit of her remarks, though.]

There was thunderous applause to her comment.
