As most folks know noted history professor Doug Brinkley is moving on to Rice. I guess it wasn't enough that Rice's president "advised" Cowen to drop Tulane's engineering programs now he wants to poach our lieral arts faculty. That however is just the tip of the iceberg of the goings on within the history department which is in some disarray.

Everyody in the department looks to be suing everybody else to the point where everyone is afraid to come to departmental meetings.

Scott Cowen seems to be notably absent on this one. I guess he is too busy running the pulic schools and the Scott S. Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives. Probably just as well. He'd no doubt decide history wasn't all that important either and jettison the department.
