I can't believe I missed your comment back in 2006 stating that Cowen would retire on July 1, 2014, I guess that seemed like a long way off then. I see the comments from the SSE web page you posted from May of this year from Dean Altiero. I need to speak to you, you are one of the very few that still visits the Save Tulane Engineering forum; I just happen to log into it and noticed your recent comments. I have been keeping this site up by paying out of my pocket. I and some lone survivors have incorporated the Society of Tulane Engineers (STE, Inc.), which the dean just discarded about six years ago. I have a Linked in site for STE, please visit it. I feel now is the time to jump in and get our two cents in for selecting a new president that will be engineering friendly. Also it seems like Nick is hinting at something here that was consistent with the Cowen's comments at the April 2013 Tulane Engineering Forum. Cowen shocked me when he literally pleaded with the engineers attending the forum (local PEs most not Tulane grads) to encourage young people to go into STEM fields because America needs to stay competitive. I could not believe my ears; he was responsible for one of the biggest setbacks in engineering education, at least in our part of the country. Nick and Cowen still put a happy face on that SSE is doing so good, but I donít think so, they canít admit it was a mistake, but I will take that if we are turning the corner and maybe can start considering a comeback. I want to discuss some ideas with you and bring you up to date on what we are trying to do.
